Since last summer, construction and interior design company Beneens has over 1,100 solar panels on the roof of their company building in Olen, Belgium. Together, these account for 375,360 Watt peak, or roughly the electricity consumption of 100 families.
The installation is connected to Beneens’ existing battery system with a capacity of 100 Kilowatts. This makes it possible to store unused power. In this way, the company can cope with power shortages when the solar panels produce less on dark days. And similarly, lighting, servers, ventilation and others can be powered by green power at night. In addition, the batteries allow for some smoothing of power surges from the solar panels.
